I hear it all the time and keep telling myself its normal but I'm starting to get the nerves and I feel I'm doing everything wronge! Can I get some support! Please!
I have hatched before in a big hatchery and also a few times when i was a kid living at home. But this is the first time I have actual have my $$$ invested and I'm the "boss" in this hatch "complete control of temp and humidity", so I'm second guessing myself A LOT!
So far I'm at end of day 28 (not counting day one) and I started with 20 eggs. 4 blue runners, 4 welsh, 4 Rouen, 4 cayagen, 4 crested... "please forgive spelling"
I had 2 non fertilized eggs so I actually was down 1 welsh and 1 crested at week one at first candling. AND I just did a candling just now "see who internal piped or check for any other valuable info"... it looks like at this point I lost a cayagen at 2-3 weeks... not good color, no movement, and felt cold to me, as well as the egg not being as dark were the chick should be.
Anyways I have a few that looked piped and 1 I heard pecking when held up to ear and a few that have witch looked like a saddled air sack.... "they were shipped in to me" a few eggs i seen no movement in but I put them back in the bator cause I give them the benefit of the doubt. Also when I was done doing my candling and walked away for them I heard PEEPING! Dont know witch egg and didn't want to open the bator to envestigate....

Well if you have eggs that are healthy, like fertilized eggs than they should hatch. I'm not sure when I'm not all smart about ducks sorry I wanted to try to help

Thanks. Im thinking most are healthy. But still got the nerves. I guess I was expecting to see an external pip at this point at the very least

1.) Should I be worried about the ones that have not internal pipped yet? Some air sacks have not even dipped yet? Are they bad or?

2.) How long can the pipped ones go without having and external pip?

3.) Any suggestions on my saddled air sacks?

4.) Should I expect anything different between the difference breeds? Longer incubation times?

5.) Im thinking the one that was pecking is also the one I hear peeping. The question would be is when should I expect an external pip before the chick runners out of air?

I got an external pip on the one i heard the pecking from and I'm thinking this one was my peepers. Only question would be is what color should the membrane be. It was milky white....
