What a wonderful site full of great, caring people to help those of us who are newbies! I've learned so much in the last couple of days. Now, I'm hoping someone can help me. We have 5 mallard duck eggs in the incubator. Today is day 29. One of them pipped at 3 am yesterday/Saturday morning, which was day 28. By last he pipped out a very small piece of the shell. This morning I heard a tiny little chirp when I added a sponge to raise the humidity, but he hasn't done a thing since. We are now at 38 hours and I'm beginning to worry! Another one pipped at 9 this morning and I suspect the little guy is resting and soaking up the yolk(?). My question is, what should I do with the little guy who pipped 38 hours ago and hasn't pipped or zipped since? Thanks so much for any help!

ide make sure his pip is all the way through so it can get air and that its bill is clear

i like to look in and see its bill and whistle at it or tap on the egg, should get a response

Then wait for further help from someone more experienced like @WVduckchick
Thanks JPat! I'd love to clear the hole, but I thought I wasn't supposed to the open the incubator?

I think I might take a peek at the the one that's been pipped the longest. Not sure if I would mess with the hole or not. All others I would candle before making any holes.
