I got 30 new chicken babies, and one died from me putting the water thing full of water back in the cage, it got squashed, it was a bantam baby, and another died from me sleeping with it.. which I now did good 1/3 times. best not to do that ever again.
Then we left Red Hen, momma of 6 of our chicken babies in there with them and when we got back home, she pecked two eyes of two different birds, one was real close to dying and died. 3 were died when we got to them. one she pecked the brain out, the head had a big hole. and my man I live with thinks two look like they been squashed by something. We were both gone. One was alive with a hurt back like she bit and pulled up to the sky or clawed and lifted, tugged the skin a bit... it healed now. 3 Black Jersey Giant baby females, sexed. And 3 bantams, that are all diff colors. black, yellow and stripy brown. I can't believe she did that... One mag we have at home,Mother Earth News, says that hens that will go broody will most of the time take care of other eggs/babies of other birds too. Not her.
