***<3ChickenForever and ChickenPeep's CHAT thread!***

Im only getting a egg a day now, there is 2 different hens taking turns, by BO one day Then my ex batt the nest.

hey guess what, my dadds friend has offered me 28 hens some chicks, some roos, some broodies, some layers and some hens with chicks, mam wont let me have them alll the rude girl. so im going to rather get a layer and a broody or a chick with one chick, which should i choose? i was thinking the hen with a chick. im going to try help get the others homes because they despretley want rid of the lot, they started off with only 3 and some ran away to go broody and came back with chicks.

I would get the hen with the chick. There's a good chance that she will go broody again.

yeah i hope there is one that just has 1 chick :) if not i could take them and then try sell them but i would prefer not to many chicks because i will need to get rid of some and my hens have mycroplasma in the flock (well i think not sure) and i dont want to get the blame if anything goes wrong

It's a respritory infection, im not sure if they have it though, i will just sell hens chicks etc to other mycroplasma flocks....

what is the one thing you gate most about keeping hens? Myne is not knowing if they are safe and if something is going after them, all the ones i care about the most get killed, and they are always the ones i need most in the flock, through november my hens should stay as far away from the sheds as they can, every hen that got killed by the stoat was in the oen with the sheds and thats the worst part because there is only one way out and thats the way the stoat comes in, Miley my light sussex was so desperate to escape that she tried to get through a small hole in the pen but it was too late for her :(
