3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatch!!

WELL .... I have 4 NN hens that just started laying. Maybe we could swap a few eggs for the Easter Hatch.
I have a pretty NN girl in with 2 lav. Silke boys, that should make for some interesting chicks.

Cool! I'd love to have some more! LOL, NN Silkie crosses! What am I thinking??? oh, yeah, they are sooo stinking cute!

I don't have much to swap with. By Easter my nice Splash Orp should

be romanticizing the large fowl hens, but most of them are production red types, and a few buff orps. I doubt my nice Blue Orp pullet will be laying then, and if she does, they would be untried pullet eggs. Hmm, but you like intersting.

I so wish I could have kept a roo.

It's killing me!

Mahonri, I've found that if a roo is raised under a good, stoic dominant roo, he may crow very little or not at all. Secondly, birds with a percentage of jungle fowl have a very different crow or none at all. I have one guy that only makes noise if he's truly warning everyone to run for their lives (we have a family of 3 hawks terrorizing our neighborhood) and he sounds like he has terrible hiccups. Perhaps something like this would work for you? My Beta Orps only crow in the morning, around 7, and I let them a out of the coop AFTER they do their thing. They don't do it until they are promoted to Alpha, btw, and as Betas make no noise at all.

I wish I'd developed a crowless roo, but it hasn't happened yet.

The Little duck is still internally pipping. He has not broken the shell yet and he has not peeped that I've heard which means he likely hasn't broken the airsac either. He is definitely being very active in there, though and I can hear him scratching quite loudly at the shell.

I agree. He is a strong little guy. It's been driving me crazy waiting for him to hatch!! I just want to see what he looks like already!!

I keep telling him he needs to hurry so I can see how cute he is. He just taps on the egg shell a little slower cause I said something about it.

As for the Duck Diapers, I think I may just be killed for that one. Since the Chocolate Cake Incident with Puffles chickens are no longer aloud in the house as adults. I can't imagine the look I'd get when I told dad I had a House Duck!
