SCG, I'm not able to hatch this time of the year but love following along. Can you either separate the contests those of us non-hatchers are allowed to enter or maybe put an asterik or other symbol next to the numbers so we know which we are elgible for please?

Just in case the worst happens, here are the 72 eggs I set 12/11.

I sent a PM to Laree to update my initial plan on the spreadsheet. When I put 30 as my total the Iowa Blues weren't laying yet!

Had to stay off this thread to avoid temptation for a few days. I knew DH would give in if I decided to join but I really don't want chicks in the house for months like we had last year. (Well earlier this year, technically) Every day I have been looking at my smallish flock and thinking, I can definitely add some more.

I was able to resist for now. I will be joining in on the Easter hatch! Happy hatching to you all! I will be lurking and I know wishing I had joined

Well, I am still gonna hatch, and participate in this thread, but I didn't get my eggs set yesterday. I'll do this tonight after work.

Saturday and Sunday were really crazy days for me, and Sunday I had to leave the property to take advantage of a friend/coworker who was able to help me pack up more "stuff" from the rental Down The Hill and bring it up in his van. This was the only day he was available. I personally don't need to enter any contests, I JUST WANT TO HATCH some eggs from some more breeds (got 'em) and more pretty "designer" chickens. For the holidays. For this thread.

Finally got a sec to fill out the form.

I set 36 eggs yesterday and hope to have at least a handful of fertiles in the group. I candled yesterday and pitched 75% of what I'd set 10 days/17 days ago because they were clear.

My eggs consist of:
Barred Heritage Rock- 3
Blue Barred Heritage Rock- 5
Partridge Chantecler- 6
Meat Project (Konza Prairie Dual Purpose Free Range Project)- 1
Silkied Ameraucana Project- 4 (none has bee fertile yet)
Rapa Nui Raraku- 3
South American Composite- 3
Isabel/Porcelain Orpington Project- 5
French Black Copper Marans- 2
Silkies- 4

I'd have had a few more, but needed to make eggnog...and the ones I used weren't fertile, anyway, I did determine.

So...I'm feeling a bit low, since I think I set 5 times as many last year, minimum, and I'm worried they'll all be duds.

Blasted rough summer followed by lame, grey fall...

Chin up, Renee!! You'll get some chicks, and they'll be fabulous!!

Need my inner cheerleader to get on the ball...she's a bit slow sometimes!
