Wow! Those are big! They look like they are enjoying their greens too.

Curious, do they recognize and respond to you? I assume they would but I've never had much to do with turtles other than admiring them at the zoo or rescuing our wild ones off the road.

I've lost count of the number I've rescued on the way into or out of town, there are a lot of irrigation channels and dams around here and they often go wandering over the road and through the paddocks. These are the ones I usually find Eastern Snake-Necked Turtle

I've picked up a few rarer ones too, I figure if I don't help them no one else will so I move them off the road to the nearest water source. Usually they cross pretty close to one of the irrigation channels so I just help them get to the other side faster and safer.

They know their names and will come when called

They will weigh close to 200 pounds when fully grown. They are the third largest species of Tortoise on our beautiful earth. They will hopefully live to be 150 years old or even more. They are from the hottest region of Africa called the Sahel Desert. They eat hay and grass and green leafy treats

I have had them since they were three days old and they both fit in the palm of my hand together

Most of my tortoises will come when called. I have some Marbled Cherry Head Redfoots - Ceria, Silvio and Sparkle who I lovingly refer to as Curly, Mo and Larry because they will fall all over them selves to be the center of attention

Wow! What is it with chicken folk and turtles? I've got dogs, so no terrapins at present.... But I do have a turtle tattoo! (Shhhhh..... Nobody but DH knows because I'll be darned if I'm called "Turtle Butt" in anything but loving terms...) Oops!

I was just thinking the same exact thing! Seems like everything i've done regarding the hatch or that I've posted about in this thread has gone horribly wrong!

Hence this morning whn i woke up half the Ghost Shrimp in my aquarium were dead and my female guppy has something wrong with her. When I opened up the filter to see if that was what had caused the ammonia spike I found three long dead shrimp in there and the filter cartridge was disgusting.

I do remember posting about fish on this thread, not to mention the Pot Bator unplug!
