Here are my eggs in lock down. The pictures are not the greatest. My phone is getting tired.

I think this is all of them. I couldn't take pictures in the incubator because I filled it up again.

I think I only counted 76. I must have missed a picture.

Now I got 75 but I know I am missing a picture. Now I need to find it.

Hi everyone,
Just thought I would give an update. I started with 51 eggs...
27 homemade eggs with 17 making it this far.
12 eggs from Karimw. Lost the 4 Iowa Blue eggs and 1 really blue egg. Just noticed one of the other coloured eggs has broken though!

12 bantum mixed eggs from Runsw/scissors. Let just say 1 was clear and 11 hatched! 2 did not make it and 1 is still in the incubator. Out of nine chicks it looks like seven are silkie mixes - 5 black, 1 yellow chocolate, and 1 deep reddish chocolate.

But what does one do with silkies? I have heard stories...

Good luck to everyone. A

He is a Gold Laced Polish. He may need a new home. I'm raising up a replacement because he needs an ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT every few days. He is mainly over protective of his girl and the ones in the laying flock that he has never had access to.

I am so happy for you!!!!!

The only thing with silkies is they need a slightly different perch set up as they cannot fly. Just make graduated perches so they can hop up to where they wanna be. Also I am careful that my boy has plenty of opportunity to stay dry because silkies get soaked very quickly. Their feathers aren't coated with oil like hard feathered birds. The fact that they get soaked makes them more apt to freeze as chicks. Once they get their adult feathers in around 3 mos or so I don't worry so much; other than making sure they have a little more shelter that is...

I am sooooo happy for you!! Apparently you wanted colour so I am glad you got it!

Did the big leghorn/ee egg make it to lockdown?

Those are in my post NY hatch due Wednesday. Yes the leghorn is looking good as are most of the EE.
