Thank you for hosting this contest. I would like a waterer base please.

I'm happy to win though it's unfortunate I had the worst small batch hatch rate.

Half the eggs were not fertile and the rest save 2 didn't grow to term.
I love the one chick I ended up with though. I named it Lucky. We've been spending lots of time together and I think Lucky assumes I'm his mom. This creates some challenges in regards to our differing species but I'm doing my best.

Harvey Ussery writes a lot about using electronet for pasturing poultry. He's got an article about it on his website: http://www.themodernhomestead.us/article/Electronet-1.html. I can't help myself - I'm a huge fan of his. No favorite movie star, but - homesteading poultry experts? - I'd line up for an autograph!

(BTW: I've lurked throughout the entire hatch. My husband says he's relieved that I am hatching vicariously through all of your hatches so we don't have chicks in the bathroom all winter!

Great job, everyone, and congratulations all!

Keep all 5! We had duck for dinner twice now (from the store) that was truly delicious. We baked it in half an inch of water,at 330 degrees breast side down for 2 1/2 hours and then turned it over and added quite a few small branches of fresh rosemary and a blend of dry spices sprinkled on, including thyme, lavender, and basil, and baked it an hour more.
