The new fad now is rabbit liver, supposedly it's better for you than regular liver.

Oh I'm sorry for missing the question...

First of all, I'm a pharmacist. One of the places I work is in the anticoagulation clinic. The biggest drug there is warfarin/Coumadin. Warfarin acts on vitamin K in the body - they're opposing forces. Vitamin K is the backbone of some clotting factors, and warfarin blocks that pathway to "thin" blood so patients don't form blood clots. However, because of this mechanism of the medication, you have to watch the amount of vitamin K you eat. So if all of a sudden you eat a lot of vitamin K, your body can produce clotting factors which overcomes the warfarin and you can throw a clot. The opposite situation is also bad, if you all of a sudden stop eating the vitamin K you normally eat your body is making even less baseline clotting factors than it normally does and your blood can become dangerously thin and you can bleed severely. Anyway, liver is an item that has vitamin K in it. We had a patient who had heard that pheasant liver doesn't really contain significant amounts of vitamin K and wanted to eat a bunch of liver. We weren't sure if this was going to affect his blood or not.

Hope that explains it?

I think someone does do one almost every month on the boards.

This one's my first one so if all of you "behave" I might be amenable to hosting another
