Now that I know my roo is getting business taken care of I'm in for 6. Will be golden phoenix and hopefully the dominique gets busy. I will take anything, but sorry, I just can't do those NN's

totally agree. I mated 2 naked necks together, and out of 3 eggs I got 1 naked neck. If you're mating bowtie naked neck to non-naked neck there's only a 25% chance of naked necked chicks.

Thanks for the ratio. Now I know what the problem is. I have 2 silkie roos and 2 bowtie NN roos running with my normal silkies so it appears I've got even less than a 25% chance of NN chicks. So far I've hatched 5 normal-looking black silkies and 2 more pipped and died in shell and were also normal-looking silkies. I've got a lot more in the incubator and I'm saving every sikie egg so eventually I'll get one .....and hopefully a dozen.

I just wish I had more room to work on project birds. I was going to try and get a white turken with yellow legs that laid white eggs, but there was no room after I hatched out F1. And besides, turkens themselves are not too desirable, can you imagine if I told someone I specifically bred it to lay white eggs? I have a 160 sq foot coop

and 38 birds in there. Prior to the great hawk attack of 2011 and the culling of Wry Tail, it was at capacity with 40 birds. I don't mind having more in there in the summer but they do get cooped up in there when it's actively snowing. I also have a hard time thinking about selling those birds off, they were my first birds. I'm much more practical when it comes to things I hatch and selling them off.

I'm going to work on the swap assignments this afternoon. I do have a head cold so I'm waiting until this afternoon when hopefully the medication is still working but the fog has lifted.

Ok this swap is officially closed to new entrants!

Boyfriend is upstairs trying to figure out how to print my spreadsheet. Then I'll compare what I have on there to the first page of this thread and make sure I haven't missed anyone, then try matching you guys up. I just re-upped on my pseudoephedrine so I should have a good 4 hours if it holds.
