My chick seems to have injured her third eyelid. A strand of membrane is coming out of her eye that will not easily pull out. It looks like tissue, not any kind of worm. We did have a vet Zoom call a couple of days ago. At that point the eye just looked irritated and she couldn’t see the tissue.
My question is-can I just snip away the torn piece? I have sterile ocular scissors and have no issue trying-I just don’t want to make it worse. The chick has been getting eye antibiotic gel three times a day. There’s no redness anymore, but the eye is still bothering her a lot. She’s scratching and shaking her head a lot. I’m afraid she’s going to do more damage. I really don’t fancy paying the vet a ton just to snip our this tiny bit of torn tissue.
Thank you!
Shannon
