About 2 weeks ago, we got our 1st egg from my pullet pen. 2 days ago, there were 2 perfect little eggs in there. They look slightly different from each other, so I am pretty sure I have a second one laying.

My question is... today I found 3 eggs in the nest box. The 3rd egg was shell-less. Just a thick squishy membrane, but otherwise looked like a perfect little egg. In fact it looks a lot like the 1st girl's eggs. So could Lucky have laid 2 eggs today, with one being shell-less, or do I have a 3rd girl laying and this was her first egg?

You have a third layer. Make sure they're getting enough calcium. That's the reason for the soft shells. Oyster shells help with this. Also-her body might have to adjust to laying eggs.

Thanks. They have oyster shell and grit available at all times, seperate from thier food so it is free choice.

So WHOOHOO!!!! 3 out of 5 are finally laying.... the last 2 left are my EEers! Can't wiat to see what color their eggs are.
