Yep, I just received the eggs that I won from BYC auction today. Very lovely Blue Wheaten Ameraucana eggs. The eggs are a really nice shade of blue.
This is my 3rd go with shipped eggs and I am very excited to report that not a single egg was smashed or broken. No chips or cracks either.
The seller (bishopchicken) did a great job at packing so that the package was tight and the eggs could not bump each other. I thought his packing was clever too! He wrapped each egg individually with ......... toilet paper. That's right, toilet paper. And it was alot of toilet paper per each egg so that each egg had a really good padding around it. I would have never of thought of that. I think there was a 3rd of a roll of toilet paper per egg cus it sure seemed like an alot when unwrapping the eggs. I am not gonna give all his details away so if you want to know more you will have to ask him.
I was very pleased on the condition of the eggs so am bragging on his clever packing.
Dad asked if the toilet paper could be re-used but I kinda shredded it a bit so had just put it in the trash. He was like you could still recycle it. oops
The air cells appear to be where they should be so the eggs will go in the bator tomorrow morning. I am letting them settle tonight. The Brinsea is ready for them.
I am hoping for a good hatch as the last 2 groups of shipped eggs I bought had very poor hatch rates. 3rd time just has to be the charmer.
So now the fun part of waiting begins. .....
