1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
*Easter egger chicken, 3yo, seems healthy weight
2) What is the behavior/problem
I noticed missing feathers and a scab over/near the chickens ear
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
*Noticed today
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
*No
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
*Scab
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation
*Nothing
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
*Acting normally, curious, energetic. I noticed because she came inside (like she does if I leave the back door open).
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
*I haven't noticed any runny poop
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
*None
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
*I would like to know if this is likely just picking or something more serious so I can treat it. We've never had picking problems before in the 3 years we've had the chickens, however we did add 2 red sex links and 2 black Australorps for a total of 7 hens this spring. They are younger and I don't think they'd pick at her but of course I don't know for sure. I have not observed any excessive picking or bullying.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Housing is a movable A-frame chicken coop with ventilation around the bottom and on each side. It is about 40sq ft on the bottom section with roosts above. We removed the nesting boxes this year because of the intense heat to keep them from sitting in them on the hot days. We use deep litter and the chickens are let out to roam each day in the morning in our fenced backyard where they have lots of space.
