I have 4 healthy but ugly looking brand new ducklings!! How exciting its my first hatch! However, there are still 9 eggs left in the bator. Some have some discoloring to them (looks bruised) and I have not seen movement but try not to mess with them too much either......Any idea why they are discolored? Today is day 27 and there arent any indications there is live animals in there.....don't want them to blow up in the bator....what should I do?
Congrats on your new babies! The bruised looking eggs are probably dead, at least thats been my experience. You can sniff them and see if they smell rotten. And you could pick open the air sac end of the egg, peel shell back by little pieces and see whats up. If its dead it will be dark and nasty looking. If there is a dry, whitish and veiny membrane it may be alive but I havent found any life in a black and blue egg, sorry. Quetsweyo
