I have a 4 or 5 day old Sumatra chick. I was just sitting on the couch and heard a loud peeping start from my brooder and noticed on of my chicks on her back unable to right herself. I flipped her over and noticed a limp. She has been totally fine the days before until now. After scouring the internet the last hour her symptoms are most like a slipped tendon. 1 leg is not straightening and she is just hopping on one leg now. I tight to feel for the tendon, but don't feel anything and nothing looks different.

This is my first time raising chicks (usually a hen does it for me), so I don't know what to feel or look for in terms of issues. If it is a slipped tendon can it heal itself? Or should I just put her down now? Is there anything else I can do short of going to a vet?

I need help on this one

If it is possibly splay leg, you can make a splint, you’ll find instructions and pics in threads. DE3E5AC3-6B81-47B0-A3D7-64B8A1C92D2C.jpeg

I don't think it's splayed leg. Only one leg is effected and the problem came on suddenly. I massaged her hock and she seems a tad bit better but still jest sitting down a lot or hopping on one leg.

After my massage the leg seems a little more straightened out but still a limp.

Here's a couple pics

Probably painful. Could she have gotten mowed over by the other chicks?I don't think so just because it happened and I was 2 feet away. I think she tripped in her feeder and maybe got her leg caught because she was next to it and I saw it happen once already
