4 day old chick w/broken leg

The pus still won't work out of the eye? Anytime there's pus it has to be removed, chicken pus will not dry up on it's own, it will continue to fester.

Sorry to hear the Amoxicillin is not helping. It's a good antibiotic, but you may need to try something different or ask your vet to run a gram stain to see what would most effectively treat the infection. For example, MG is a bacteria like infection but it has no cell wall, so Amoxicillin won't touch that since it works on the cell wall. So finding the right meds can make a huge difference.
well, I may have to retract my statement from yesterday. First of all, I upped the amoxicillan to a higher dosage. Maybe that made a difference, not sure.... But this morning, her eye was NOT crusted shut. It is still weepy & draining a bit, but it was far improved. She could actually keep it completely open all night. So I'm going to stay the course over the weekend to allow for a full 10 days of treatment. If it's not on the tail end by then, I will try to find a vet who can prescribe something else. Lots of vets around here but most only take cats, dogs, or large animals. Very hard to find someone who will look at a chicken.

Just giving an update... Chick still has an eye infection despite the antibiotics (Terramycin and amoxicillan). Her leg has also solidified stretched out behind her. This means she has great difficulty trying to walk. She frequently drags her belly along the ground so she gets poop in her belly feathers which is irritating her skin. There's also an odd lump down there. I feel like I should just cull her because she will never be able to go out with the flock and I don't think my husband will allow her to become a house chicken... Hard decisions...

:hugsI'm so sorry.
Yes, it is hard decisions. Sometimes after all avenues have been exhausted, there's only one thing left to do. Very difficult when you've spent time caring for a little sweet one like this, you become attached for sure.
