4 day old with scissored beak

sorry about your chick she was really a cutie. It is hard to have to make that decision. I have a hen who had a cross beak and it is a little extra work but she does pretty good.

Bluemoon, thanks.

Ozark, I put the dry ice in a bowl inside a larger bowl that had a lid. I added water to the dry ice and put the lid on the big bowl with Lucy in the big bowl. I believe it's pure Carbon Dioxide? Either way, she just went to sleep.

Turnstar, thanks.

Here's a pic of Edweana Scissorbeak. I had her for almost a year now. She's not quite as big as the other girls, but she's just as spunky if not more.

Sorry Danette, sometimes the cross beak is worse in some than others. SilkieChicken had one that had a 90 degree separation, very extreme. I believe if mine had lived, it too would have been on the extreme side. Here's a picture of mine, a few weeks old:

It broke my heart when I found it had died. Like all animals that require special attention, it had taken a piece of my heart. It would always give a happy little squeel whenever I'd put food down for it and it tried so hard to eat with the other babies.
