I generally have a few that just never tries to hatch. I hatch out 25 this past weekend and had 4 that just died in the shell. Another one pipped but died afterwards.
Sometimes it just happens. The humidity was perfect, the temps were perfect. They were turned 3 times each day.
It is just meant to be I guess.
Last night I candled the eggs that I have in the bator now. 6 were non fertile or had blood rings. That is the most that I have ever had in a hatch. I guess I need to give the roo a pep talk.
generally have 2-3 nonfertile or early quitters. I guess it just happened.
The only other hatch that I had more was when my neighbor gave me 17 eggs. At day 8 I candled, all 17 were not fertile. I had 28 of my eggs. All of mine were fertile. I had 2 that did not attempt to hatch that had a full term chick inside. I had 2 others to pip and die.
I hope I never have a total hatch failure. I am not sure if I could deal with it.
I am happy with the ones that do hatch and try not to think much on the ones that don't make it.
