In the egg class, the secret is uniformity. You want all the eggs to be exactly the same shape, size, and color. You absolutely don't want any of the eggs to be cracked or dirty. When our children showed eggs at state, they tried to get a dozen eggs from the same hen. They would save eggs from their special hen for up to a month, before selecting the eggs to be shown. We found that white eggs showed better in the old blue styrofoam cartons. The colored eggs were best in white cartons. We placed a ruler on top of the eggs in order to be sure that each egg is the same height. We also learned not to keep the eggs in a refrigerator. If we did, when we took them out to take to the show, they would "sweat", and it would sometimes stain them. Just store them in a cool dry place till show time.

Of course, this is what we did in the boondocks of South Dakota. Your state may be different. Whatever happens, good luck!
