4 month old Buff Orp roo suddenly lethargic, weak, with pale comb.

This isn't true. It only helps prevent it. They can still get Coccidiosis if there is a high enough level of the protozoa in the soil.
Well, I never said it treated it, but if they had been on it from the beginning then they wouldn't have it in the first place.

I've had problems losing buffs due to the heat. Can you drip some electrolytes on top of his beak so he'll sip? Get him cooled down. He may have internal/external parasites too but deal with later. Don't lay him on his back. You know what? You'd better do a thorough check FIRST of his vent, under his wings, etc., looking for MAGGOTS!

Well, it certainly makes it a lot less likely that coccidiosis is the problem when you are trying to troubleshoot an issue. I guess some people just always have to be right...

I am not trying to just be right, as you so bluntly stated, I am trying to give the OP the best possible advice. Medicated food is not a reason to disregard Coccidiosis when all others symptoms point to it being the problem. If that makes me a bad person then, so be it....

Whoa! I'll try to be the voice of reason here. I have to admit that sometimes the way something is written can come off completely different than how the person intended. One of the reasons I like this forum so much is because you can get so much informations from lots of people and corrections just need to be taken in stride. Sometimes it's correct and sometimes it's not but it's such a great way to learn. :D

I agree. I was just trying to be helpful.

I just found a hen with maggots on her vent. She was bathed and we cleaned it out. She is refusing to drink but I have managed to get some water down her throat with a syringe. She is in a cage by herself with a fan on her since it's almost 95 degrees. She is a Plymouth Rock so she doesn't fair well with heat. Her comb is pale and she refuses to open her eyes. She is eating only dry oats. Please help!!!!!!
