4 month old chicks. - what breed are they?

I've been following your thread (I wouldn't even be able to guess what they are) and the suspense is KILLING me! lol They are beautiful, whatever they end up being.

Hi,

I actually know what breed these chicks are, but thought it might be fun for you to try to find out. They are hybrids, though - so there's a clue. Can you work out what breeds they come from?

This is a Barred Rock rooster,

Okay, I will reveal all.........

Dad is a Barnvelder cockerel.

Mom is a Fenton Blue hen.

Chicks are a mix - seemingly sex linked [I assume, since the colouring is so different.] The male chick is dark [like his dad] but has lighter lacing and a slight crest from his mom.

The pullet is cream coloured, like mom, but the lacing is much darker - a bit of colour from her dad, I suppose.

Either way, they're both lovely young birds and living quite well, in with the adults. We've only had one squabble and that was between the lead hen [a welsummer] and the male chick. She soon put him in his place. Mom hen is happy now as she is no longer bottom of the pecking order - these chicks are! LOL!
