4 month old Cream Legbar still not too happy She is bottom of pecking order.

Sorry, I may have got my replies mixed up on the last 2 posts. Answering in the wrong order. In answer to your sensible post, Yes, If she gets better and bigger, I will try her again with the others. There is only 1 big bird who chases her, the other is quite happy to go around with and sit beside her. However, if trouble breaks out, I will certainly do what you have suggested Thank You.

I hope this gets to the correct recipient, I think I sent it to the wrong person. However, I am not sure the Vet is a specialist in Avian issues but she keeps chickens herself and there is a large bird Aviary in the reception room. There are actually 5 vets in the practice and I have used them for 6 years. The vet today is French and although my French isn't perfect I was made to understand that Blossom had some form of Rickets. They cannot garantee she will completely recover, but her legs could get stronger if I follow the advice. Giving her the Minerals, plenty of foods with calcium and generally ensure that she is eating and drinking well and getting the warmth of the sun on her. Luckilly, we have good weather here in France at the moment.

Thank you for your post. I will post again in a few weeks to report on our progress.

Ours never seem to be able to get enough calcium but we tell quickly by the state of the egg shells. We combat this by crushing up eggshells and putting them in their food. Also I don't know what you feed them but make sure the majority of it is a complete chicken pellet for layers rather than just corn/wheat. Ours don't like the pellets much but we gov them no choice in the mornings before they're let out to free range. Also we take the opportunity to eat plenty of oysters then bash up the shells and put them in the run!
