4 month old Rhode Island Red - Rooster?

It's a hen..every once in a while you get a hen that crow's..grandpa always told me they were bad luck for the flock..he also wouldn't cut his finger nails on Sunday because it was bad luck

my father said the same a hen that crowed was bad luck and he believed it's would also hang her upside down on the clothesline before he would even kill her.

I dont know what to say because my older laying hen has crowing and the big wadling thing and its red, but she has been my first egg layer in my flock.. So its just a matter of waiting right? I know i have two roosters for sure, but the others looked like hens to me, but yesterday i saw one hen looking rhode island fighting with the rooster, thats why i was surprised to see a "hen" fighting with rooster

it must be in the air i just purchased a threesome pair of rhode island that are 3months old 2hens and a roo i got them from an older gentleman that was82years old and had been breeding for many years for the past 3days i saw my young roo and one of my hens doing this same kind of little fighting dance he will start on her and she wont run she give him this mexican stand off one sided look and if he spreads his neck feathers she will too until he will lay down then she will lay down right beside him its so funny my other hen named pretty boss gal wont when sargert starts on my boss as she has been named recently she give him a YOU BETTER LEAVE ME ALONE LOOK.

Ok so its normal for pullets to do that.. I just dont know how to tell if its cockerel or pullet though, they all look alike

How old are you are they and yes if is intended to be a boss are top peck of the ladder and there not another set of older hen in the flock both will do this mostly if the young roo and hens are the same age as mine are as back to telling if he or she the rooster comb will grow around the age of 3 to 4 months and the color will deepening to a red color the hen as it called will remain pink and small it will only grow some and get some color until she is ready to lay eggs but her comb will not be as large or dark as the rooster .

Yeah me too i was so surpised at this that i called the older gentleman that i got my 3 from and ask him if he was sure of the sex that he sold me he laughted and told me it was because they was close to the same age and i didnt have a top peck hen in my flock it would be ok when my roo get older he wil learn how to be boss later down the road but my dusty as i have named her would more than likely be boss hen in my flock.

Well they are 4 months old now, but all of them have a big comb and big wobbly thing, just like my laying hen does.. Its hard to tell, i know i have two roosters for sure because they are bigger and taller but idk about the other

the one in doubt canyou post a recent picture of it if all are fpur months old now you should be able to tell a difference in comb and yes 4 month old roo comb would be about the same size as a full grown laying hen my 4 month old RIRs hen barely have a comb it very small and still pink
