4 month old silkie hurt

I'm so sorry.
Of course the child didn't know any better as she was never taught. I can only blame the mother for not teaching her child about animal respect nor does it sound like she intervened!
Yes, some would say but Vicki, she's only three! I would say yes, she is three without any rearing regarding animal kindness, animal cruelty, boundaries or coincidences for her cruel behavior.
The worst part is, her mother never said a word or immediately intervened. Yes, I'm sure the child is cute or perhaps behaved but, its her mother that is to blame.
Im so sorry you had to experience that event.

I 110% agree with you. The mother should have had a keen eye on her child knowing they were handling baby chicks.

I know this may be just me, but I'd be demanding a replacement chick from the mom asap. It wont bring the chick back, but it will help ease the sadness her little chicky friends feel by her absence.

This is awful. Again OP, I'm so sorry.

I felt so bad for telling her to put the chicken down too. She is 3, but I can’t blame her or her mother either. Her and her mother have been through more than most humans will Ever go through in their lifetimes and she hasn’t really had the opportunity to teach her these things. I felt like I was giving the child a sense of happiness to play with my chickens, because of all she’s been through. I just hate that it happened the way it did. My boys are grown now (10 & 13) so I have forgotten what it’s like to have a 3 year old. Let alone a 3 year old that’s already had a traumatic life. I know now that no child under the age of 10 will be with the chickens if they aren’t supervised. We Live and we learn.

God bless you. You're kindness and love toward people and animals alike are truly inspiring. Sending all my love ❤❤❤❤

Her child is a 3 year old who has just finished a year of chemo and treatments. It’s one of those things where you feel so bad for the child, as she is slowly recovering from basically being hospitalized since she was 1. It’s a tough situation with that one. I haven’t even told them the chicken died because I don’t want them to feel bad. 😭
