My name is Keira. We inherited a flock of 10 from a co-worker who was moving away. About 3 weeks into it, we decided we wanted to add chicks to grow our flock. Bought 14 chicks. Brooded then in our house until about 6 weeks old. Moved out to barn, and had in a wire dog crate. They have been fine until last night. We found 2 dead, thought maybe they strangled themselves in the wiring of the crate. Found 3 dead this morning, not sure why. Lost another after putting them out this morning. It is a very hot sunny day, could they be suffering from heat? Also noticed bloody stools and my remaining 8 chicks have been acting lethargic. Any help is so greatly appreciated!

That definitely sounds like coccidiosis as already stated above. I would start dosing with Corid ASAP. Tractor Supply carries it if there is one in your area or a local farm supply store should have it as well. Dosing with Corid won’t harm the chicks if it turns out to be something else but I would be surprised if it wasn’t cocci and have dealt with this issue a couple times myself.
