4 of my chickens died today

So sad ....:

We just went through a spell with temps like that - it was awful.

I always put out multiple water sources in case something happens to one or more of them, refill with ice as often as possible, have fans running and supply cold fruits. And electrolytes with open mouth breathing or extreme heat. And of course, lots of shade. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when BJ and Annie made it through 4 consecutive days of 110 heat index recently. It was especially worrisome because it had been in the 70s before that so there was no time for them to get acclimated. The dew point was so high you could cut the air with a knife... it was so thick and hard to breathe.

Hoping we all get very few days as brutal as 100+ this summer.

What breed/type of chickens? Some are very prone to heat stroke/stress, others are more heat hardy, just like some breeds tolerate severe winters better than others.

Sorry about your birds...

are the birds kept in a coop?

always best to have more then waterer...
electrolytes in water..replace with fresh every day..

heat stroke is most likely.

in how weather, I fill 2 liter soda bottles with water and freeze..and set them around where they tend to sit..
I even have them in the coop..
I keep replacements in an extra freezer..and change out every day..
