4 Questions from a newbie

I've got questions!!!

1. How long does it take for ducklings to mature?

2. Is it normal for ducklings to have som blackish-brown stuff on their beak? I think it's food.

3. How can you tell the difference between Mallards, White Peckins and Khaki Cambells?
4. How can i stop my deranged dog from wanting to eat my ducklings... He's blood thirsty...

From what i have gathered and I am new too:

1. 6 months to lay.
2. Mine do sometimes too until I let them swim and they dive and wash it all off.
3. Mallards are black and yellow, Pekins are solid yellow, Khaki's are tan I think.
4. Smack him....OR just keep him away...my Pit Bulls love to just watch them, they love all the
birds, but I make a point to tell them "NO..those are MINE" so then they get it. I swear they
know English!!!!!!!!
