We have a sick chicken, she was having diarrhea which lead to fly strike, we also believe tapeworms...poor girl. Throughout this she has not been laying eggs, understandably. She has been treated for the tapeworms, and her wound from fly strike is completely healed and is acting like her normal self.

In the past week she has laid one very small egg, and last night she laid 4 shell-less eggs overnight. They look like the came out when she was roosting. Should I assume this is her just getting back on track with egg laying, or something else?

Are you sure that is all from one hen? I would give her some calcium asap. Also, since I’m a bit crazy with my flock who are pets, I’d watch her closely and look into getting her a hormone implant to shut down her laying for awhile. Avian vet would know better whether or not she’s a candidate for that. It’s also only available from a vet, who injects it.

Thank you for your response. We only have two chickens, that are our pets as well. The eggs were all in one spot in the coop, I am sure it is from one. I gave her a bath last night to look her over since she has been ill...I think the bath relaxed her and allowed her to pass them. They have never been sick before this event, I have been watching them very closely.
