is it okay to leave my 4 week old chicks outside? We’ve just finished the coop and have been letting them play outside in it. I’m in Ontario & it’s pretty warm this week but a bit rainy. They hate being inside now but I don’t think I can leave them out all day/night.

I assume you're either strictly keeping them in the coop or have made sure they can get in and out on their own without issue? As long as they have a dry, draft free place to shelter from the rain (aka coop) they should be fine. What are the forecasted temperature lows?

The lowest lows for this week are 3/4° & they have a fully enclosed coop with shavings ready for them & access to the run via a door/ramp. But is it okay to leave the em out all night without their heat source at 3° ?

Are they on the younger or older side of 4 weeks? Might be a slight bit cool for birds that are 28 days vs 34 days - it could go either way. I'd want it to be a tiny bit warmer, or have them a tiny bit older... that would make me feel safer about it.

I waffled on when to leave my chicks without heat this year, and the youngest were 34 days old with temps around 40F (4C) when I finally pulled the heat.

They are 4 weeks today, we have them in the coop today & it’s 16° out right now. I don’t think I’d keep them overnight. It’s been super rainy and windy this week.
