These are bantam chicks from Ideal/Atwood's. Other than a white Japanese roo I had as a pet, this is my first journey into owning the little ones, so I'm mildly curious about their breeds. I've set a reminder to update this thread when they're 20 weeks!
First I want to give a nod to my favorite little crew, the three that are always really excited to see me enter "the chicken room" (#2, 4, and 1). They do have names, but I know you chicken people are better with numbers
Introducing:
#1 is the most friendly. She(?) is much whiter than chicks 6 and 7 (last two pics are week 4)
#2 is no mystery to me, but super cute (and also friendly). Feathered out VERY quick in one week (second pic is week 4)
#3 has always lagged behind in growth and been a bit frizzly (second pic is week 4).
#4 loads of personality, loves to hop all over me and has no boundaries (last pic is week 4). THICK LEGS. May possibly be part emu
#5 is shy and more delicate than #4, and from a different batch. I had assumed they were the same breed because of the chipmunk stripes. But when I put the chicks side-by-side, they were different. Not sure if that's because gender or breed. Second pic is week 4 - that comb popped up out of nowhere the other day!
#6 These last two I'm curious about, they have very upright tails (second pic is week 4)
#7 The one that I stayed up all night to save when she(?) was a wee chicky (second pic is week 4).
Here are 6 and 7 together. Not friendly but not skittish. Just chicken-chickens!
And here's their baby picture (about 10 days)
Have fun
