4 week old chick won't extend neck and shakes head after having eaten something big

Hi,

I have a 4 week old chick who is acting slightly lethargic, won't extend her neck, and shakes her head violently occasionally. She was in her brooder when I heard her chirping loudly, and when I checked on her I felt her crop. It felt like there was something large inside of it. The only large things she could've eaten were shavings as far as I know... ? Now she doesn't want to extend her neck, will occasionally shake her head violently, and will slowly sit down with her mouth open. I re-checked her crop and it's empty now. Do you think there's something in her throat? Does anyone have any idea what might be going on, and how I can help her?

Hi,

I don't know if something's in her throat to cause this, but you could try trickling a few drops of coconut, olive, or vegetable oil down her right side of her mouth. That should help something stuck, glide down.

Do they get anything else besides their chick crumbles that you think it could have been the bedding? Depending on where you are, maybe they could go outside? That could motivate her move around a little more perhaps.
