For the people that think the black orpington is a cockerel, is it just the larger comb? I haven't noticed any red in his/her comb or wattle. Here's another pic from today, 5 weeks and 2 days old. View attachment 1877752
I evaluate the drumsticks as far as cockerels are concerned. They are larger with the young males. heart-shape1-smiley.gif

Here is an updated pic of the cochin at 5 weeks and 5 days old. No red in comb or wattles but he/she has that rooster stance

I'm not really worried about my cochin being male, the comb is still extremely small. But my black orpington and speckled sussex are the ones I'm concerned about. They are 5 weeks old right now. I'll post more pics in a couple weeks
I judge males by their drumsticks, not combs. Both of these photos have birds with over developed drums. The birds are young though.

Update: it's still too early to know for certain, but I'm guessing it's a pullet. She's had no reddening or her comb or wattles. I've attached a pic let me know what you think!
