I hope this is just the duckling not used to her weight since they grow so fast. I'm thinking about bringing her to a vet. First time I ever taken care of any birds. She walks stiffly like its difficult maybe pigeon toed walking? Nevermind just looked it up and that's walking with toes pointed in. She walks like her buddy with feet straight. Legs dont look bowed either. And I dont see or feel any issues with her legs asides from like the strange walk. But I'm not the most skilled at identifying issues in bird bodies. While her buddy who's the same age but different breed of duck (a Buff duck and the funny walking one is a Cayuga) walks fine, looks comfortable moving and runs for fun. The cayuga use to run for fun but only saw her do that today for a brief bit. While they look like they are developing the same rate, when we got them the Buff duck looked bigger and her legs got wider/thicker sooner than the cayuga. The cayuga still seems thinner legged but hard to tell. Cayuga seems to be taller or longer legs? Might just be the way she stands like she is pushing herself up more if that makes sense. cayuga also had balding patches on upper part of wing sooner than the Buff duck (feathers coming in). So it's like one is faster and one is slower in only some ways.
I'll add more info as I remember and needed. I'll also try to put up a video later.
The feed I diluted with oats or barley when they turned 4 weeks old or couple days earlier than that. I could be doing better at being more precise. Sometimes more sometimes less than 25% dilution. I think I'll start going by weight in grams instead of volume.
It's Manna Pro duckling and gosling starter grower. The updated bag lists niacin amount. Minimum 35 mg/lb. I compared it to Metzers nutrition page for ducks and the numbers are different. Not just the niacin but other ones too. I looked at the calcium and phosphorus ratio and the amount of vit D, Metzer ratio is wider and the Vit D is 3 times more. What do you guys think about the nutrition info of Manna Pro?
I also feed them leaves. The past couple days has been kale. Used to feed them spinach about 5 leaves split between the two of them but avoiding it for now just in case. They eat some dandelion leaves, clover, and grass when outside . They were not interested in a worm I offered them. Sometimes eat broccoli. I been switching between broccoli and kale. Next purchase will be radish greens. They been eating peas since they turned 4 weeks old. About 1/4 cup a day or maybe sometimes even 3/4 cup.
I'm going to look into water therapy tomorrow but the cayuga doesnt like to stay as long in the water as the buff and I dont want to tire out or stress either of the ducks too much. I can lessen the stress by getting them use to being carried more and getting them to focus on treats while carrying.

Also I want to read what you guys think about Seeking Health B-Minus b complex supplement. It's what I already have. Not sure about it though if ok for the ducks. I saw for at least one supplement, a livestock liquid b complex, the amount of each vitamin is different than the supplement I have. The supplement I have also is half niacin half inositol hexanicotinate. I also just have concerns about supplements. From past experiences with myself and supplements and info I have read on specific supplements. So I worry about causing harm from giving supplements. I guess I just need to assure myself that they will be okay with the proper supplement and dilution. Other people use B vitamins and their ducks are okay. I began taking the supplement too to see if I notice anything negative. I know they are different than me though and I also am just taking the same amount as them. For the past two days I just have been putting a small amount in their container of water. I estimated the amount to about 2-5 mg of niacin. Yesterday it was one container of water that they only can drink out of. Today I put two containers one with the b vit. the other without. Just so they have options. I dont know. I contacted Metzer Farms too to hear from them.

Hi and welcome to BYC! :welcome

Ducks need extra niacin especially for leg issues that may arise. This is what most of us on there use and it works really well with solving lots of problems. You can get it at Tractor Supply for $16.99 1 ml over a treat is better than diluting it in water which mostly gets spilled anyway. Any excess that they don't need just gets peed out so don't worry about that.

I'd like to see a video of the duckling walking. Also, you need to stop diluting their feed with treats and grain, get either an All Flock Feed, Purina Rasier Feed, or a feed formulated for ducks. In addition to that, I would start adding Brewers yeast or Nutritional yeast to the feed at a ratio of 1 tablespoon per cup of feed.

The video I took didn't capture the way she walks well. Looked more normal of a walk than what she still does. I'll try again tomorrow in a space I can get a good angle and good walking surface material.
Here is pictures of her legs, specifically the ankles, it occured to me that this might be odd. Her ankle bones are very angular and prominent. Took these pics after their swim in the tub.

What exactly is wrong with her legs? Weakness or is something damaged? I don't know if her hocks are swollen or the bones got big for some reason. It feels bony.

I got some clips of her walking. I would have liked to get a better video but it does show how she seems to avoid bending at her hocks. I haven't done the cleaning for the night yet, so sorry about the poop.

I haven't found yet a video or pictures of a duckling that looks or moves the way her legs do. Have any of you seen videos or pictures like this?

Anything else I can do asides from the b complex? For now I'm still using the B complex I already have. Today I put some mixed in with smushed peas for the cayuga.
I think their feed should have enough niacin in it. In .33 lbs of feed theres about 11.55 mg of niacin. So I haven't been supplementing a whole lot more. Still around 2 mg a day. The highest I did was around 10 mg total in a day.
I also gave them .5 grams of a joint supplement my dog takes. And a small dab of sunflower butter that was also mixed into the smushed peas. Some vit d too, about two drops out of a 2,000 iu capsule. Probably won't need to supplement vit d for a little while.

I'm going to try to give myself a break from thinking about this issue tomorrow. Let my mind just mull it over in the background and refresh. I haven't been approaching this in the most organized clear manner. It's a bit of a jumble up in my head.

Swollen Hocks and Weak Legs are both signs that she is deficient in B3, your video did not load for me, but I will tell you now If you don't start immediate treatment her symptoms may become irreversible, I suggest you get the brand we recommend and start immediate treatment. 10mg a day is only about 1/10th of what she needs, maybe less, and please stop giving her joint supplements and vitamin D, she needs B.

Could you post a picture of the B complex you have?
