Any gender guesses for my 4 week old light Sussex? Very friendly, comes to the door and gets in my hand when I open the cage.. I'm starting to get really attached so want to prepare myself if it's going back to the farm in a few months 🙈 comb barely visable at this stage but a few people in a Facebook group im in said the legs indicate Cockerel?

I’m in no way an expert but at that age a chick that is very bold or comes up to you has always turned out a rooster for me but is still a bit young to tell.

Legs are not a super reliable way to tell gender. With your chick, it's a little hard to tell. Some cockerels at four weeks have a little bit of red wattles and comb, and others have almost no growth at all. Post more photos in a couple of weeks and we should be able to give you better guesses!

Updated pics. "Goldie" is now 6 weeks and fully feathered. I've heard the neck feathers being pointed or round can be a good indication of gender so I've included some photos of those 😉 still not much comb or wattles

You can’t tell anything with regard to sex with feathers when they’re that young.
All chicks have a juvenile molt which starts at around 10-12 weeks as they replace juvenile feathers with their adult plumage.
The young cockerels do not get their skinny hackle/saddle feathers until their adult plumage starts coming in.
The best way to tell sex is wattle and comb development and color.
At 6 weeks I’d say this chick is a pullet as males would have some wattles developing and some pink/red color.
