Hi -

I have 4, 4week old chicks. The brooder I have, is like a large rabbit cage, and I've had it in my shower for the last month. Chicks are doing great (although I think one of them, a SLW, is a roo.... argh). But, I'm thinking they are getting too big for the brooder - every time we come in to the bathroom, they are flying around and they just looked cramped.

Should I change their brooder to a bigger cage? I guess this sounds like an obvious answer....

Thanks.

I have 7 4wk i have them in a 45gal storage box i got from target for $12, but their gonna try to fly no matter what you put them in. you might want to make a mini tractor so they play outside during the day.

If they seem cramped they probably are. How close is your coop to being done?

If the shower is not in use could you maybe cover the tub with something and put shavings right in it? Then you could run a little chicken wire across to make a top. That may be enough room to get you through until they get in the coop.
