I have four week olds and am moving them in tonight. I've got the coop pretty much ready, but I don't have roost or nesting boxes ready yet. Is this bad? Do they need these things yet?

We put our chicks in the coop a week ago. At that time they ranged in age from 3-5 weeks old. It took us a few days to get the roosts in, and they were fine without it. I haven't added nest boxes yet, and figure we still have a little time before they need them. It has been getting into the 60s at night, so I turn on a heat lamp for them to keep them a little warmer.

yeah I was going to put a couple lamps in for a couple more weeks, drops into the 50s at night here too.

I purchased 6 week olds about 2 months ago and they didn't use the roost until about 2 weeks ago. I huddled together on the floor and occassionally in a nest box. I used a temporary ramp for them to get up in the nest box because at the time they couldn't fly up to it.
