4 wk old GLW gurgling labored breathing wet cough

Update: I had the chick sent in for a necropsy. Initial report is aspergillosis, possibly due to mold spores in/around bedding. Lab will be running more tests just to be thorough. I will update with those results once I get them.

For the curious: shipping a dead chick = $42 overnight UPS. You should buy your own styrofoam cooler or make your own box, because if your UPS is like mine, they may not have them in stock. I told them it was an animal specimen for testing, and they were thankfully understanding (and curious) but I still had to do some last minute improvising.

Thank you for the update and the initial report. This is how we all learn. Each state has a different cost for necropsy, and I have no idea if all states do a good job or not. Some state vets go out of their way, and will do several chicks for the price of one, some do free or very low cost necropsies, but all in all, this is how we learn and pass it along to others to know what to look for.

Lab report is in.

Diagnosis: Infectious Coryza.

So considering I had gotten the sick chick along with 2 other chicks (who are on day 20 of quarantine from my main flock), should I be worried about those 2?
