Hi, I bought these 4 chicks from a lady who has only Wyandotte’s. I didn’t get to see the parents cause they were down the backyard but can anyone give me a heads up on gender? I know how to sex Plymouth Rocks but not familiar with Wyandotte sexing.

2 chicks have darker legs, their wing feathers and tail feathers were coming in quicker, they also have an indentation of their feathers on the back of their heads (not sure if that’s a sign of gender?)

2 chicks have yellow legs and their feathers are coming in a bit slower and they have no indentation on the back of their heads.

many thanks :)

Too early to tell gender.
I agree about the coloring, I do not recognize this color of Wyandotte either. What color did the breeder say they were? Can you get close ups of their combs?
First one appears to be a single comb, this can be seen in wyandottes, but they should have rose combs. 😊

What variety were you told they were? The only Wyandotte variety that they look like to me would be partridge and that variety is fairly uncommon compared to the others. The green legs on one of them also seems odd, but I am unfamiliar with the variety, so perhaps it occasionally pops up... Much too early to sex!
They look like mixes to me.

That was my gut feeling as well, but the fact that the lady apparently only had Wyandottes seemed weird 😳 Maybe she seriously has no clue what breed(s) she actually has. The appearance of the chicks seems consistent at least, which made me wonder about them being partridge. I am curious what they'll feather out like!

So many people mis-label birds. It wouldn't surprise me.
