4 year old goose has never laid an egg

Not sure this is related but I have a duck that had seizure's when she was 1 to 2 months old almost every morning for weeks she would be on her side I would get here warmed back up and she was fine all day... anyway when all the girls started laying she never did. on the 2nd season about once a month or so I would find a egg that was round and the size of a quarter. She is my funnest most special duck "Lucy" but I do believe all the seizures damaged her reproduction organs. The boys usually ignore her and chase around all the other girls for mating. Its like they know something we don't. Her eggs are mostly all thick shell with no yoke. I believe all her eggs were damaged in her first few months. Some reproduction problems can go all the way back to the incubation problems, to hot to cold not enough cool down not enough air. They are born with all the eggs they will lay. Like all animals, they have a set number of potential eggs in their bodies at birth. Ok so its cold out and Im stalling.

Well, I have no idea what her hatching conditions where like since I got her when she was already a week old. It was a six hour drive to come bring her and her hatch mate to my house from their other farm. This is unlikely but could the constant vibration of being in a moving car for 6 hours have something to do with it?

Sebastopol are notorious poor layers. However by 4, she absolutely would of laid by now . Mine have just started back up so it's time. Did you get the DNA test done or did the breeder? I'm inclined to think you didn't get the goose you paid for. What other signs indicate goose to you?
I was told by the breeder that dna tests were sent in just to be sure. The breeder got back to me a few weeks later and said that they were a pair. The "female" gosling was grey while the male gosling was white which I was told means that the grey gosling is female which was further backed up by the dna test. Of course, it is entirely possible that I was given the wrong goslings or the breeder was a liar but I'd think that it's unlikely.

She didn't stay grey though, she turned white when her adult feathers came in.

Like mammals hormones in birds that regulate bodily functions are produced by the pituitary gland at the base of the brain, the seizures or whatever caused the seizures could have damaged that part of her brain as well and stunted your duck’s ability to produce normal reproductive hormones.

At hatch, the females are darker but it doesn't last very long. By one week, it's hard to distinguish between the two. If they have color genes mixed in that no longer applies. Post pictures of the 2. My guess is that you have 2 ganders. You can't rely on breeding either. 2 ganders will go at it when they only have each other.

Totally Agree I guess the point was that there are birds out there that no fault of there own just cant produce. And are totally normal birds. She is the life of the party.

Isn't DNA testing by collecting the shell after birth and sent off? Could the mix up come from there if there was one My baby's make a mess when hatching. Isint it the membrane and goop they test? Just thinking out loud.
Just looked up fee for one company its $24.00 a bird with that one. plus your cost to ship it to them

I doubt a bumpy ride had anything to do with it. 1 week old birds are very limber and bouncy.. I think Goose baby had a good comment on my Lucy. she was a shipped Hatary Duck and arrived with 5 sisters.
