42 guinea eggs in the incubator.

Well I have 12 eggs in a friend's incubator right now, due May 23. My father tells me yesterday he is ready to get 36 more eggs set. I told him he better not play with fire. When people say "don't count your eggs before they hatch" they surely mean that in both senses, low and HIGH. I don't what the hell we would do if we ended up with all 48 guineas.

Now, wouldn't that be something? I've been having terrible results on hatching, the last few times, so my incubators (three of them) are all running at 100% capacity, right now. If they all hatch out....life will get interesting very, very quickly.

Um... Guinea eggs take 26-28 days to hatch... if you set them on APRIL 21st they should have already hatched by May 18th.

If you set them May 21st, then your lock-down day should be June 15th, and they should all hatch by June 18th.

I had posted the incorrect start date, I attempted to correct it just after I had posted and I thought it had stuck, but obviously it didn’t.
So, the correct date that I started incubation was on May 11th with the expected hatch date of June 8th. I have an automatic turner that I removed on the morning of day 25, I should have done it the day before, when I woke up I had 3 chicks hatched, 2 were under the turner and 1 stuck in one of the turner cups, also there was a chick that had attempted to hatch but had died in the egg. Next time I will take the turner out on day 24
It is now June 9th and I have 17 chicks, with 1 in the process of pipping out. I never thought I would have so many chicks, the eggs that I had put into the incubator on May 11 were the 1st my established flock had ever laid. I had picked up as many as I could find since they started laying (which was probably over a months time), some had sat out all night in freezing temps. It will be interesting to see how many more I get over the next three days.
