42 pound turkey for easter!

well today we killed our white turkey

it was time. i have finally done it . he dressed out at 42 pds. i dont even know how im going to cook him . any tips?
 
A big oven would be a start. I'd just stuff him and cook him at 325 degrees, allowing 15 minutes per pound. Probably won't take that long though. Use a meat thermometer.

I have quartered the big turkeys and BBQ them in a pig cooker. They are great with BBQ sauce and hickory chip smoke in the grill.

Yes. Brace your oven rack with some bricks. A 42 lb turkey might be too heavy for your oven rack to support. We did this at my mom's house a few years ago and nearly ruined her heating element when the rack fell twice. Yes, it took two times for us to figure out a solution.

May I ask what type of turkey you have and what age you proccessed?? It just says white so im wondering if its the Broad Breasted White or maybe a Midget white... I am raising BBB and dont want to allow mine to get that large.../

Amazing! And I thought I had my hands full with a 32 pounder for Thanksgiving!!!

When I did my bird, I did not stuff it, it was in the oven for about 10 hours, I basted every 20 minutes, and it rested for 2 hours before serving. It was yummy! I had to modify my roasting pan to accommodate it - I bought one of the disposable aluminum pans, cut it in half, put them in the sides of my regular roasting pan, and wrapped the whole thing a few times in aluminum foil. It served it's purpose, obviously not meant for pulling the bird in and out of the oven throughout the cooking time, just leave it in the oven and baste as best as possible until it's done.
