Last March we started a flock of chickens from chicks. We've lost a couple over time to Marek's disease and rehoming roosters. So our flock of four includes Cream Legbar, Silkie, Welsummer, and D'Uccle. The silkie has been the most consistent layer and has been the only one to lay through winter.

Today was a big day! We got a our first egg from our Cream Legbar. And it was... not blue. Not even close! As you can see in the picture, its almost the same color as my silkie's cream-colored egg. Is this just normal genetic variations? I got my Cream Legbar from Feather Lover Farms online who tout their "sky blue eggs". I just got another batch of 9 chicks from them that are 6 days old.

Here is the lovely lady, Fox overlooking some wheatgrass and microgreen remnants. She is also missing the crest on her head that looks like a silly toupee. It never grew in.

This is my Cream Legbar. She hatched August 28th. She turned 22 weeks yesterday. She has a crest also. I got her from Meyers. She hasn't started laying yet. But the whole reason I got her, was for the blue eggs. But yours, sadly, is not a Cream Legbar. There is no crest. And I don't see any blue in that egg.

OMG, it's so obvious now. She is a Bielfelder. One of the few breeds this breeder also sells.

My "cream legbar" side-by-side with the Bielfelder from their site.

Here are my two "cream legbars" who now I see look very different. The true cream legbar unfortunately passed before she started laying.

I'm still not seeing a Cream Legbar in those photos. I don't see any crest. Mine started the crest, as soon as her feathers started coming in. I have a photo of her at 6.5 weeks.
