Most that offer a set shipping(like myself) do so because it includes all packaging and cofirmation(which is the same price no matter what you are shipping). Also, I have found that it is the distance, not the weight that determines the cost of shipping. To send a 12x12x8 box of eggs, regarldess of weight from Tn to Ca,for example, costs me at least $15. It's not alot less for a smaller box. I'm thinking that most are making a best guess.

Some like myself use flat rate shipping. It makes it easier to print shipping labels at home and not have to go to the P.O. every time you want a package mailed. Saves time and money in the long run. Flat rate costs the same for any weight up to I believe 20#'s

LOL No conspiracy. If I don't charge flat rate, which is honestly just easier for me because I don't have a postal scale, it's between $7 and $15. I was charging $12 for shipping, and it just ate my lunch because I shipped 8 eggs out and the actual shipping was $13 something. And that's not including the bubble wrap, newspaper, tape, etc that I use to package. It's colder here, so I add extra packaging to keep them warm.
JMHO

What I do is just stick with a flat rate on shipping when i started out shipping I always said $8 on shipping and the more I got to shipping i had some that costed $9 or a lil over and that wasn't including confirmation which I now do since the PO held a box of my eggs to Shay20 for a week then overnighted them to her.. hmm.. anyhows thats another story, I set mine at $10 to be on the safe side, i know some people include the shipping supplies and the gas to the PO in on them also.
