I am so relieved! Our first egg from one of our Ameracaunas! We've waited for 49 weeks. So someone finally decided to go for it. I haven't seen squatting behavior so this took me by surprise. Here's a pic! The one on the right is from my EE - the other from the Ameracauna.

Congratulations!! :-)
My Barred rock laid her first egg at 18 weeks!! :-D

Oh congrats! I'm on week 25 and no eggs yet. Any thoughts on why it took so long to lay?

Hi, I'm really not sure why. My guess is that they are a late-maturing bird, and when fall rolled around and they hadn't started laying yet (like I expected) the days were getting shorter and they just decided to wait until spring. That's the only thing I can figure out! LOL
