My kids are bringing some of our pullets and our Icelandic cockerel to the county 4H fair over labor day. We have the following 4 options for classes to enter the birds in: Meat, Production, Barnyard Bantam, and Exotic. I'm not really 100% on which classes to use for the chickens. I assume Production is for the birds like the Isa Browns and other production sex links and leghorns?? We have some OEGB pullets that the kids will bring for the Bantam class. And I was told to enter the Icelandics in the Exotic class (mostly because we only have 1 pullet and 1 cockerel right now...weasel got our other pullet the day after I bought her grrr).

We have light brahma pullets as well. Where the heck do they fit in? Would I stick them in the exotic class as well where they're a dual purpose type of breed? The club leader/county person isn't super knowledgeable about the different chicken breeds so I'm not sure she really knows either (she told me to put the leghorns in the meat bird category).

Thanks for any insight!

I've never heard of any fair having these kinds of classes before. Typically, exhibition birds are divided into APA/ABA classes.

Put all of your large fowl birds under 'exotic' whatever that means.
