Hello our 4 H group is doing poultry. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to lend us an incubator? I have found some for $50 only I can not see us doing this multiple times we are a small group. We are in Mesa The Gold Medal 4H. Well if you would be willing we would take good care of it and return as soon as chicks hatched.

Our 4-h group is doing a hatch at a nursing home. Just after April. We are doing it as a service project. I just thought you would like to know. After you learn to hatch you can hatch for others that can't hatch. You might want to buy the incubator with a turner so you can hatch for others. You can sell chicks to pay for the incubator.

Hi! Have you contacted you county extension office. I am not sure if that is just something we have down here in TX and OK. But we have county ag extension offices that we can contact with questions about agriculture. Usually there is a 4-H rep in these offices. They are actually the ones who loaned us an incubator for our first hatch. Let me see if I can find a website for you.

I am assuming you are in Mesa, AZ. If so, here is your local ag office. Not sure how close it is to you but this is a great place to start, here is your 4-H office to contact- http://extension.arizona.edu/4h/
Or start here- same place just not the 4-H officer- http://extension.arizona.edu

Hope that helps you out! They were very friendly in our state, they own many incubators and lend them out to classrooms etc. We just had to pick a time that was in between classes who were signed up to hatch. Our office even offers hatching eggs for free to go with it. Although we did not choose that route.

Best of luck to ya!

Wow!! We have nothing like that here. Our extension office has very little and no incubators. I think it's great that you can get an incubator from the extension office or 4-h office.

To the op, yes, check this out to see if you have this option.

Thank yes I know the office. I will call them today. I would like the kids to experience a hatch. I love the service project post sounds neat. We survived our first year. I am just not sure if I want to hatch more then once. I found a few for sale with no egg Turner. I guess youbuy that seperate.

Thanks for the tips!!

Yes you can buy the turners separate. But our office lended us one that had the turner included. They also included a thermometer and hydrometer. All we had to purchase was a good flashlight so we could candle them and watch the progress unfold. Make sure if you borrow you have well over 3 weeks for your hatching time. Sometimes hatches last 25 days, you do not want to have to turn in your borrowed bator before everyone has had time to finish.... I say this from experience! :)
