I know this isnt the place to ask, but can someone PM as I am not sure on all these "SWAP" pages everyone has, how does it work and are their rules? Thanks PM please I dont want to add to the madness : )

The swaps are fun. Just follow the rules on first page and start to have fun. If you want to play the Pay/Pal swap you have to clear each swap for 7 swaps, then you are cleared. That one is in the hatching eggs for sale. All others are in Social thread. Swap on it is fun.

This is for both of you, wild swings in temp. could be caused by the placement of the incubator. Cochins1088 do you have yours near a register or window where sunlight gets to it? Is the thermometer acurite Some of mine are off by 5* I just bought one that is adjust able, that goes in the vent holes.

The incubator is placed in an area of minimal temperature swings, and I have calibrated both of my thermometers... It only happens when I fill it with too many eggs. It's weird, but I was talking to someone else a while ago who was having the same problem. It's not a big deal, but it would be nice to have the ability to fill it. Especially since I plan on moving whatever I put in the genesis (expecting around 30 - 45 eggs) to the 1602N on day 18 so that the genesis stays clean.

OIC I've never hatched more then what will fit into the turner. It probably is the amount of the eggs. They will put off heat as well. How many are you trying to hatch at once?

How many will fit into a turner? 40? My incubator was overheating with 40 eggs. Then again, they are layed on their sides rather than vertical like in an egg turner. I don't know...

It is a mix, probably mostly splash. :)

Thanks all for the ideas. I think I will just move them into the garage when I can't stand them in the house anymore. Then they should be ready for the coop when it starts to warm up just a tad outside. :) (By 'warming up" I mean it stays above 10*F or so.

Good thinking! Hoping by February we don't have too many of those cold, cold days.

Eggs should hold a thermal mass but not elevate it. Ive used the old hovabators plenty in the past, but for reptile eggs. The still air versions always hold a higher temperature at the top then they do at the bottom. Theory seems to be if you fill in most of the lower air space with egg mass you are limiting the air space for temp differences in the remaining air space. Have any of you tried to add a pc fan and see if it makes a difference? Feel free to pm me if you'd like the info on how to do it. Also those of you that are using egg turners in hovabators, remember that your turner motor also adds heat.
