That is my Icelandic cockerel, Falki.  Eggs fertilized by him are part of this hatchalong.......not by me.....but by mbmess2003.  I don't do winter hatching but he's in Louisiana and will have much better weather than me!!

OMG....now I have something else I want!!! Ok...tell me all about them. Are they cold hardy? You're in Illinois, so I assume so....good layers? Egg color? What do the hens look like??

I know my original guess was WAYYYYY low...cause I was going based on how many I was setting...I couldn't fathom anyone wanting to have more than 40 chicks running around in the cold.......so there's no way I could come close!

Oh yes, almost forgot. This morning I candled the 20 Duck eggs that I set for the NYD hatch, and I only tossed out one!! I've never seen so many healthy lil embryos wigglin around inside their eggs. So EGGCITED!!! I cannot WAIT to see all the adorable babies that are going to be hatched out and are growing right now!!!!! Okay, calming down now....a nice cup of hot tea sounds really nice right now.

Me, too! There were only 223 people signed up when I guessed, and even with a generous per person guess, I'll be WAY off! First hatch a long for me...maybe next year.
